GoHighLevel API: Docs, Access and Rate Limits Explained
By the GHL Deals editorial team · Last updated: October 2026
TL;DR
- Official documentation: marketplace.gohighlevel.com/docs. The REST API connects contacts, opportunities, calendars, conversations and more.
- Unlimited ($297/month) lists Basic API Access; Pro ($497/month) lists Advanced API Access. Check your endpoint and app requirements before building.
- Use OAuth apps for connections installed across accounts, or Private Integration tokens for your own account scripts.
- OAuth API limits: 100 requests per 10 seconds and 200,000 per day, per app per location or company resource.
- Compare the 30-day trial and current deals.
Detail | What to know |
|---|---|
Docs | marketplace.gohighlevel.com/docs |
Auth | OAuth 2.0 or Private Integration token |
Burst limit | 100 requests / 10 seconds |
Daily limit | 200,000 requests |
Plan | Unlimited ($297/month) lists API access |
The published OAuth limits apply per Marketplace app and location/company resource, not one shared allowance for every account. Plan prices are USD; verify endpoint access and current plan terms.
What can you do with the GoHighLevel API?
The GoHighLevel API is a REST interface for reading and updating HighLevel data from another application. It lets you connect your CRM to external services, automate account tasks and build Marketplace apps. Each endpoint documents the permissions, request fields and response you need.

The official HighLevel API docs live at marketplace.gohighlevel.com/docs.

- Sync contacts and custom fields with another system.
- Create opportunities and update pipeline stages.
- Book appointments and read calendar availability.
- Send supported messages through configured conversations channels.
- Build Marketplace apps for other HighLevel accounts.
An endpoint is not permission to send unsolicited messages. Consent, channel setup, account permissions and messaging charges still apply.
Which plan includes API access?
HighLevel’s current pricing table lists Basic API Access on Unlimited at $297/month and Advanced API Access on Agency Pro / SaaS Pro at $497/month. The supplied tutorial screenshot uses the broader label API Access on Unlimited. Do not read that as full access to every endpoint or company-level operation.

API Access is listed as an Unlimited plan feature ($297/month).

Before upgrading, check the exact endpoint, required account type, app distribution requirements and scopes for your intended integration. The API has no separate general subscription fee, but external apps and usage-based services can still charge. Private Integration tokens are created in Settings > Private Integrations and are static until you rotate or revoke them.
OAuth vs Private Integration tokens
Method | Best use | How access works |
|---|---|---|
OAuth 2.0 | An app installed by multiple accounts | The account authorizes scoped access; your app manages access and refresh tokens |
Private Integration token | Your own scripts or a controlled internal connection | Create a scoped token in the relevant account settings |
OAuth is the usual choice for Marketplace apps used by many accounts. A Private Integration token is simpler for your own scripts. Create it in the account that owns the data, grant only the scopes you need and check the documentation for endpoint compatibility.
Keep tokens secret. Store them on a server or in your automation tool’s protected credential store, never in website code, public repositories, URLs or screenshots. Rotate a leaked token and remove unused integrations. OAuth access tokens expire, so implement the documented refresh flow.
GoHighLevel API rate limits
The OAuth FAQ publishes a burst limit of 100 requests per 10 seconds and a daily limit of 200,000 requests, per Marketplace app per location or company resource. Splitting traffic across workers does not remove a shared resource limit.
- Read rate-limit headers and throttle requests before the allowance runs out.
- For HTTP 429 responses, respect retry guidance and use delayed backoff rather than immediate retries.
- Use pagination, cache suitable reads and use supported webhooks instead of constantly polling.
- Queue large imports and make retries safe so a repeated request does not create duplicate records.
Treat those figures as the documented OAuth allowance, not a promise that every endpoint or Private Integration token has identical limits. Check endpoint-specific restrictions and current documentation before running a bulk job.
No-code options
Zapier, Make and Pabbly offer ready-made HighLevel connections. n8n can connect through available nodes or HTTP requests. You still authorize the connection and configure credentials, fields and errors, but may not need to write an application.
How to get started (4 steps)
- For an OAuth app, create a developer account on the Marketplace. For an internal script, start in your account’s Private Integrations settings instead.
- Pick OAuth for installations across accounts, or a Private Integration token for your own account.
- Choose only the required scopes and authorize the correct location or company resource.
- Test one documented read request with non-sensitive test data. Then add error handling, token refresh where needed and rate-limit controls.

Frequently asked questions
Does GoHighLevel have an API?
Yes. HighLevel provides a REST API for contacts, opportunities, calendars, conversations and other supported resources.
Is the GoHighLevel API free?
There is no separate general API subscription fee. Access depends on your HighLevel plan and the endpoint: Unlimited at $297/month lists API access, with higher-tier features on Pro. Connected apps and usage-based services can have their own fees.
Where are the GoHighLevel API docs?
The official developer documentation is at marketplace.gohighlevel.com/docs. Start there for endpoint references, authentication and scopes.
What are the GoHighLevel API rate limits?
The OAuth API FAQ lists 100 requests per 10 seconds and 200,000 requests per day, per Marketplace app per location/company resource. Check individual endpoint restrictions too.
Is API v1 still available?
HighLevel directs developers toward its newer OAuth-based API. Build new projects on the current documented API rather than assuming legacy v1 endpoints remain supported. Check migration notices for an existing integration.
